I will never book with Westjet again. The reason that I will not book with this airline, is that if you have to cancel, they hold your money, and if you can't travel again within a year, you lose it.
Book Air Canada, cancel if you have to and pay the minimal penalty, and receive your refund. At least you end up with something. With Westjet, you have nothing (not even the airport taxes)
I was in the travel business for many years, arranging tours for Canadian school students. I am posting this to warn other travellers. Never in my years of travel (through the war in Kuwait, and 9/11) did I ever withhold a refund and say that it had to be used within one year!
